Staying in Levanto? Your Guide to a Boat Tour from Monterosso

Some of our favourite guests aboard Ghibli are the ones staying in Levanto. They arrive relaxed, they have usually had a proper breakfast, and they are always a little surprised by how easy the journey was — because from Levanto, our mooring at Molo dei Pescatori in Monterosso is about as close as it gets without staying in the village itself.

The six-minute train

Levanto sits one stop up the line from Monterosso, and the regional train covers it in around six minutes — barely time to find a seat. In season there are several trains an hour, so you never build your day around one departure. Step off at Monterosso, walk along the water to the fishermen's pier, and you will find Ghibli waiting: one of the last working fishing boats in the village, with Captain Benedetto — forty years at sea out of this harbour — at the helm.

Mornings on the water

For Levanto guests we usually suggest a morning private tour. The Five Villages departs on the hour, with 09:00 and 10:00 sailings that pair beautifully with an early train: two hours along the whole coastline, all five villages from the water, and a swim and snorkel stop when the sea is calm, with masks and cold drinks on board. Private for up to six guests at €400 for the boat, it has you back at the pier by lunchtime — free to eat in Monterosso, catch the six-minute train home for a beach afternoon in Levanto, or wander the villages on foot. If you want more time in the water, Coast & Coves runs three hours with nearly an hour of swimming in sheltered coves, from €550.

Or end the day at sunset

The other rhythm that suits Levanto perfectly is the evening one. Our shared Sunset Aperitivo leaves Monterosso at 18:00 — two and a half hours of golden-hour water, swim stops in two sheltered coves, and wine poured on deck as the light turns, at €100 per guest for up to seventeen aboard. Because the coast sits inside a Marine Protected Area, boats keep a slow pace close to shore and the evening feels unhurried. When we tie up again, the station is a short walk away and the ride home to Levanto is those same six minutes — an easy end to the kind of evening people come to Liguria for.

Keeping it simple

We ask for no prepayment, and cancellation is free up to twenty-four hours before departure — so if the forecast shifts or your plans change, you lose nothing.
